Tristan Skarvan of  Elk Mound  just returned from the US Olympic Training Center in CO Springs where Tristan competed in the National Archery Assoication's National Outdoor Championships and the U.S. Jr. World Team Trials.  The tournament was six full days of shooting.  There were many great shooters that competed, but 3 including Tristan that really stood tall amongst the rest.  Tristan along with Kailey Johnston and Paige Pearce broke all but 2 standing National Records!  Tristan's scores broke 5 standing national records!

The NAA Outdoor National Championship:  At the end of the NC (288 scoring arrows worth a possible 10 points each at 4 distances.....30meters, 40meters, 50meters, 60meters), only 12 points separated 1st through 3rd place.  Tristan ended up with the bronze only 4 points down from silver.  Tristan beat these same competitors down in OK in the JOAD National Championships.

The Jr. World Trials:  The top 8 archers from the National Championships were seeded into a Round Robin competition where each competitor had to shoot heads-up against the others in an Olympic Round -  12 arrows at 60 meters - a total of 7 matches.  Again, very close competition between the 3 big shooters.  Tristan ended up beating Kailey Johnston (who had placed first in the NC) by 4 points.   Paige Pearce (who had placed 2nd in the NC) beat Tristan by 1 point, and Kailey Johnson beat Paige by 1 point.  Each of the top 3 had only one loss in the round robin competition and those losses were to one another.  Their average scores in the Round Robin also smashed the standing national records.

Tristan, Kailey and Paige are now the 2008 U.S. Jr. World Team in their division and will represent the USA in the Jr. World Championships that will be shot in Turkey this October!    Good Luck in October
